The Japanese Government has lifted a state of emergency for Tokyo and four remaining areas after the number of Covid-19 infections dropped across the country; with a caveat that it could be reimposed if the virus starts spreading again.

The Country’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who gave the confirmation on Monday, said the move meant that the whole country would now have the social distancing relaxed, after an initial lifting of restrictions for most areas on the 14th of May.

The Prime Minister added that the total amount of stimulus from two economic packages would exceed 200 Trillion Yen equivalent to 1.86 Trillion Dollars but it would still take considerable time to get back to normal life while controlling infection risks.

Abe further acknowledged that the Country had faced some problems with its response and promised a review, once the outbreak was over.
